EPA Senior Programme Manager Faces Public Attention Over Alleged Chanfang Importation Claims

A Senior Programme Manager of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA) at the Tema Port branch has come under public attention following allegations linking him to the importation of chanfang machines into Ghana.

The development comes after the EPA intensified enforcement actions against individuals and businesses allegedly involved in the importation, sale, and use of chanfang machines, with reports that some persons connected to the activities have faced sanctions.

According to reports circulating publicly, the EPA Senior Manager, Joseph Kweku Prah, who previously worked as a teacher at Kwegyir Aggrey Senior High School, has imported a 40-foot High Cube container shipment containing chanfang machines into Ghana, allegedly for galamsey (illegal mining) activities, in addition to his previous importation activities.

Mr. Prah, who is also  NDC youth Organiser  in Mfantseman, has attracted attention that  he was behind the authority of his office to sanction or dismiss workers allegedly involved in similar activities  while he himself is being accused of engaging in the same practice.
